September 2016

The purpose of this short trip was to bring the contents of Pete's workshop to the house, so unfortunately we didn't get any substantial work done.  Pete is really getting acclimated to the regional redneck lifestyle. We stopped at a motel on the way there and the clerk gave him the trucker discount rate, probably because he looked so filthy.

I stopped trying to get the stains out of his wife beaters years ago.

New Acquisitions

Here's what we scored at our favorite indoor flea market on the way there:

Looking at these mugs I would have assumed they were produced as a gag gift, but the packaging looks so serious.

These also seem like a joke, but I have seen old world Eastern Europeans spread lard on bread. These will be a perfect ironic addition to our vegan kitchen.

We found these in my hometown, discarded on the side of the road.  Looking at them now I'm undecided if they are worth the work needed to make them presentable.

Van Scone, part two
Wow! Two months of travelling made our little breaded mascot as hard as concrete. Here's me screwing it to our porch, just to see if it was possible.

We made another scrap metal run, bringing the smashed up cast iron tub along with some old copper pipes. I was surprised to get a decent amount of money, because the sums on each trip seem so arbitrary.

Here's Pete picking apples from our neighbors tree. I could tell the guy is so over apples. "Take as many as you like!" He told us. The local deer are the demographic that benefits the most from these apples, we were dodging piles of deer crap that encircled the tree. I made about 30 mini apple pies from our fruity booty.

This is about the only actual work I did on this trip, pulling old nails out of the old joists in what will be our kitchen.
